Antler Basket Tray

August 13, 2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

New to basketweaving? Get your feet wet as you learn to weave a small antler basket tray. It can be used on your dresser to hold coins or hung on the wall as a decoration. Students will learn rib-style basket weaving on a pre-drilled antler spike with primary ribs inserted, using rattan reed as the weaving material.

Tools to bring: dish pan or small water bucket, towel, scissors.

About the instructor: Cathryn Peters is a chair seat weaver, antler basketmaker, teacher, writer, and pattern maker who hails from Angora, Minnesota. She delights in sharing her 40 years of accumulated knowledge and resources to those who desire to perpetuate the nearly lost art of wicker restoration, chair seat weaving, and basketry.

Cathryn’s works have appeared on public television, and in books, periodicals and national galleries and she teaches nation-wide. Visit her resource and information website at
