Performing Arts/Theater

The Ely art scene is bursting with creative talent. It's no wonder when you consider the magnificent backdrop of inspiration just outside our doors. Artists in a variety of media make Ely an exciting place to be year-round for exhibits and shows. The performing arts and music light up our entertainment scene while writers of regional and national stature provide insight into the special qualities — in nature and humans — of the area. World-class photographers, ceramicists, wood carvers, you name it, we've got it here. Take part in the arts scene when you visit Ely and you’ll be delighted with the variety and talent available.

Ely’s Northern Lakes Arts Association enriches the quality of life for our community and the surrounding area through support and development of the visual, literary and performing arts with things like the Spring Community Musical, Prairie Fire Children’s Theater and Ely’s City Band.

Ely's Historic State Theater is a cultural hub of film, arts, entertainment and learning. Newly renovated and state-of-the-art, this historic theater, built in 1936, offers an eclectic selection of movies, from new releases to art-house films to old favorites. It's the perfect place to catch an evening movie or matinee on a rainy day. The popcorn's not bad, either!
